Clémence Overall is a writer, poet, anthropologist and therapist who was born in Georgia, USA, but raised, in Morocco, Puerto Rico and across Europe.
For over 30 years Overall devoted her life to advocating for undocumented immigrants and victims of war in the United States and Central America. It was during this time—working alongside the Mayan women—she was opened up to a deeper connection to land and to her writing practice. From these experiences, she has published three bilingual graphic books for refugees and a book of poetry.
In 2016 Overall moved to Australia to undertake a residency at the Dunmoochin Foundation to dedicate her time to writing. She has been awarded numerous poetry awards since and has recently published her memoir, Down to the Bone, which won the 2019 AWW Unpublished Manuscript Award.
